A study of alternative fuels for road transport
While the transport and logistics industry is essential for creating prosperity, it is also one that has a major impact upon the environment. The fact is that emissions must be dramatically cut for us to meet our climate objectives, as set out in the EU's Green Deal.
This entails concrete scientific information and a clear perspective on the future, which is why ING engaged the expertise of VIL, Logistics in Wallonia and the Thomas More University of Applied Sciences to compile the Fuel for the Future study.
The study analyses the following alternative fuels for road transport:
natural gas (CNG/LNG)
- biodiesel (HVO)
hydrogen
battery-electric powered
This study allows us to draw up a comparison between these alternatives and diesel fuel, at an economic, operational and environmental level. The study also contains a comprehensive overview of the grants and tax stimulus packages available for sustainable drive systems.
